DUI Alcohol Treatment Program in Pennsylvania

DUI charges are quite common in Pennsylvania because just a few drinks can put a driver over the legal limit. Of course, simply because you have been charged with a DUI does not mean that you are a bad person. The law recognizes this, which is why all drunk driving convictions result in evaluations for alcohol and drug treatment. However, you should not make the mistake of thinking that this is the worst thing that can happen to you. If you are convicted, you may still be sentenced to jail time; you could also lose your driver’s license for a very long time.

CRN Evaluations for DUI Offenders in Bucks County

If you are convicted of a DUI in Pennsylvania, you will be required to under a Court Reporting Network (CRN) evaluation. The CRN evaluation is basically a pre-screening of the offender to determine whether they should be required to undergo a comprehensive Drug and Alcohol Assessment. You are responsible for paying the $75 fee for the CRN evaluation.

Drug and Alcohol Assessment for Repeat DUI Offenders

If the CRN evaluation determines that you might need alcohol treatment, you will then take a Drug and Alcohol Assessment. This assessment is required for repeat offenders and for anyone convicted of a DUI with a BAC of .16 percent or greater.

At the conclusion of the assessment, a treatment program may be recommended. If the assessment indicates a need for further treatment, the court will order treatment in accordance with the assessment recommendations. You will be required to comply with the recommendation and meet all program requirements or risk additional penalties. You will also be required to pay any fees for the assessment and subsequent treatment program.
